报道说，当天在法庭上，特朗普在被法官胡安·梅尔尚提问时多次发言，承认他了解自己拥有的权利，并提出无罪辩护。
CNN描述说，特朗普在庭审开始时慢慢走进法庭，双手放在两侧，扫视着整个房间；“在法庭上，他大部分时间都是眼神直直地盯着前方，偶尔把胳膊肘放在桌子上。他偶尔会看看检察官，听听他的律师苏珊·内切尔斯的低声言语。”
